There's nothing more comforting when you're having a bad body day than slipping into a fabulous pair of wide-leg pants. I'm all about the fluid nature of this classic piece of clothing, and that's exactly why wide-leg pants are number nine on my list of Every Woman Essentials. And since it means so much to each of you, let's get real; items you see below are priced high to low for every budget.
1. Yves Saint Laurent Cashmere and Wool-Blend Pants ($990, Net-A-Porter): Part classic 70s diva, part modern-day woman, these Yves Saint Laurent wide-leg pants are absolutely divine. And at a cost of almost 1000 dollars, I guess they should be. The cashmere and wool blend is soft to the touch; wearing these pants is comparable to wearing your favourite lounge pants. These YSL pants are classic cool and feature a moderate waist, side-slit pockets, and a front crease. Bonus? These wide-leg pants come with an unfinished hem, so you can have the inseam personalized to your liking.
2. Theory Alleen Wide Leg Trousers ($255, ShopBop): Theory, Andrew Rosen's brainchild, is best known for its smart separates and and sophisticated business-wear staples. Check these Theory wide-leg trousers. A strong blend of wool, these instant classics feature slanted pockets on each hip, and back flap pockets. The back of the pants has darting for a close fit around the waist.
3. Hudson Wide Leg Pant (was $42.95, sale $21.47, New York & Company): Usually I'm not a fan of New York & Company, but for the price of these wide-leg pants, you can't beat it. The Hudson wide-leg pant features a wide leg with off-seam front pockets, and back slit pockets. These New York & Company pants are high-waisted (which really means they sit just above the hips). The fit is definitely relaxed, and what I love about the polyester/rayon/spandex blend is that the shape holds very well. A worthy purchase for the price.
