J.Crew Peacoat

J.Crew peacoat

Super-soft — and warm — sweaters are a must for mid-winter, and finding one that doubles as a coat is the perfect piece of versatility for your wardrobe.

J.Crew’s Sophie peacoat sweater is all of the above. Made from double-knit, 12-gauge merino wool, this chic jacket is a sweet transition piece for winter to spring. While temperatures continue to dip, the Sophie sweater makes a luxurious layering piece; when the weather warms, this sweater turns jacket, wearing wonderful over everything from basic tees and jeans to babydoll dresses.

I especially love the double-breasted styling and three-quarter length sleeves; these are classic features made thoroughly modern. And in a rich poppy colour, this peacoat sweater is the perfect red-hot pick-me-up your wardrobe needs to chase away dull winter days.

Bottega Veneta Ruched Rain Jacket

Fashion - Women > Jackets / Outerwear

Until now, I never thought I’d have a desire to own a rain coat. But like each of his designs for fashion house Bottega Veneta, Tomas Maier has taken something average and infused in it a chic sensibility. This classic coat is all silk and ruched with a bubble hem. Who knew a rain coat could be so luxurious?

I love how the grey colouring and zip front (pockets, too!) are simple enough not to overtly stand out, but stylish enough to combine with several pieces of clothing. This rain coat could easily dress up or down; I especially love the idea of pairing it with a long-sleeved mini dress, and cinching the waist with a skinny belt.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Ottoman Coat

Fashion - Women > Jackets / Outerwear

Is it a trench? Is it a peacoat?

It’s a Marc by my genius Marc Jacobs ottoman coat!

The term ‘ottoman’ refers to a heavy-duty fabric with a corded texture, which is typically used to trim clothing, but it also works well as a durable material.

This Marc by Marc Jacobs ottoman coat is both heavy-duty and durable; it’s the quintessence of quality, and marked down at that. I love the classic shoulder epaulettes (READ: Shoulder strap usually found on a military uniform), the raglan sleeves, and the high-waisted belt.

Because it’s fully lined, a girl could easily wear this coat through winter, though I might suggest pairing it with a heavy sweater.

And how perfect a purchase to celebrate Cyber Monday, with free shipping, from eLUXURY.

L.A.M.B. Plaid Juliet Jacket

Fashion - Women > Jackets / Outerwear

Call me a traditionalist, or a Scot, but I looove plaid. I don’t refer to the once-trendy Catholic school girl confection, worn circa 1995 (READ: Alicia Silverstone in Clueless), but rather a classic plaid set in wool that wears well for more than 5 minutes.

Imagine my surprise coming across a plaid jacket in a classic colour and shape from L.A.M.B.

Surprise.

Looks like Gwen channeled her inner seamstress and got her fashion fingers on — or at least she hired someone to do the work for her – to create something I’d actually sport somewhere other than just in a dressing room.

It’s chic, non?

Would girls sport Stefani’s plaid jacket design? It is seriously discounted, you know. What — if any — black Friday sales are you ladies scooping up?
