Runway, Real Way: Lanvin Two-Toned Dress

Fashion - Runway, Real Way

When I first saw Lanvin's SS10 RTW Collection on the runways, my glamour-loving heart grew wings. Igniting in me a renewed love for neutral hues and draped designs, Lanvin's SS10 RTW collection was filled with ruffles and pleats creatively carried out through polyesters and leathers. The collection was signature Lanvin with its classic black dresses and ruffles — two design aesthetics that have been staples of the design house season after season. Conjuring up images in my mind of old-Hollywood legends Grace Kelly and Marilyn Monroe, I could easily see Lanvin's designs on the Every Girl. And here we are.

Almost an entire year later, check style icon Jennifer Aniston walking the red carpet in Los Angeles, promoting her latest film The Switch. Known for her minimalist taste and affinity for neutral colours, Aniston was a beacon of natural beauty wearing a Lanvin two-toned strapless dress. She paired the sheath with nude sandals and carried a black Ferragamo clutch. This effortlessly elegant look is both soft and sophisticated; it's perfect for August and that oft-awkward transitional period between summer and fall.

You don't need to drop a grand to get it: Any woman can style sophisticated and smart by wearing dark on the bottom and neutral on top. The key is to keep it natural: Hair and makeup should be simple and not too heavy or overdone. Keep your accessories small and light (if any at all), and keep your colour palate neutral. You'll have a look that spells classic for years to come.
