Runway, Real Way: Rolled Cuff Boyfriend Jeans

Fashion - Runway, Real Way

Over the past few seasons, boyfriend jeans have been a staple on almost every celebrity out there, and certainly they've been a go-to in the Every Girl's closet. From Sarah Jessica Parker to Victoria Beckham, relaxed jeans have definitely seen a renewal. And why not? They're a refreshing alternative to painted on skinny jeans and stovepipes, and relaxed jeans certainly provide their own element of chic. Whilst there are several ways to style the boyfriend jean, I'm loving how stars like Kelly Ripa, Sienna Miller, Whitney Port, and Rachel Bilson rock the trend: With rolled cuffs.

More roughed up than refined, you can work relaxed jeans with rolled cuffs into your wardrobe in a variety of ways. Personally, I found instant inspiration in the quirky-chic Dsquared2 Spring 2011 ready-to-wear show. A geek-chic example of how to try the trend, you can pair your rolled up boyfriend jeans with a button down shirt, cinched trench, knit socks, and your favourite oxfords. Add a colourful tote and you'll be set.

Taking coordination cues from the designer runways is always fun, however sometimes channeling the style of your favourite celebrity makes for an easier runway to real life transition. The fabulous foursome featured today find common ground by pairing their rolled boyfriend jeans with tailored blazers and loose-fitting tees. Each star opted for a sleek pair of shoes — sky-high sandals or booties, depending which coast they come from — and some personalized accessories. Sienna Miller was spotted with an animal-print bag, and Rachel Bilson layered on some wild print scarves. Looking for something less busy? Emulate Kelly Ripa and complement your low-waisted pants with a belt, or follow Whitney Port's lead and wear a few bold bracelets.

Runway, Real Way: Matthew Williamson Parachute Dress

Fashion - Runway, Real Way

Sienna Miller stepped out in London styling Matthew Williamson in a stunning way. She was dressed accordingly at a book launch fete-ing the designer. With her signature unkempt hair and natural makeup, the starlet was glowing in Williamson's cobalt blue billowy parachute dress from his Spring/Summer 2011 collection.

And whilst Sienna Miller was a beautiful representation wearing Matthew Williamson's work, I'm more excited to read Colin McDowell's book about the famous London designer. Following the eccentric artist throughout his career, Colin McDowell's latest book will explore everything from Williamson's first collection to his current status.

Colour at Michael Kors SS 2011 Collection, NYFW

Fashion - Runway, Real Way

Besides some basic but beautiful white and khaki ensembles, Michael Kors went heavy on the colour for his Spring/Summer 2011 RTW collection at NYFW.

From a bubblicious pink off-the-shoulder maxi dress done in jersey, to a ruffled emerald green pencil skirt paired with a classic white blouse, Michael Kors can really do no wrong with his latest offerings. Gone were sky-high heels and strappy stilettos; MK rocked this runway show with low cork wedges and understated flats. I'm sure that will come as a relief to those of you who aren't too fond of heels.

There was nothing overly unique or surprising about the Michael Kors Spring/Summer 2011 collection at NYFW, excepting perhaps the fact that he's one of the only designers out there who doesn't do things just for shock value. And that's one of the reason Michael Kors will be around for a long time. His clothing is chic and can be worn season after season without looking dated.

Colourful classic Americana - and I love it!

Runway, Real Way: Lanvin Two-Toned Dress

Fashion - Runway, Real Way

When I first saw Lanvin's SS10 RTW Collection on the runways, my glamour-loving heart grew wings. Igniting in me a renewed love for neutral hues and draped designs, Lanvin's SS10 RTW collection was filled with ruffles and pleats creatively carried out through polyesters and leathers. The collection was signature Lanvin with its classic black dresses and ruffles — two design aesthetics that have been staples of the design house season after season. Conjuring up images in my mind of old-Hollywood legends Grace Kelly and Marilyn Monroe, I could easily see Lanvin's designs on the Every Girl. And here we are.

Almost an entire year later, check style icon Jennifer Aniston walking the red carpet in Los Angeles, promoting her latest film The Switch. Known for her minimalist taste and affinity for neutral colours, Aniston was a beacon of natural beauty wearing a Lanvin two-toned strapless dress. She paired the sheath with nude sandals and carried a black Ferragamo clutch. This effortlessly elegant look is both soft and sophisticated; it's perfect for August and that oft-awkward transitional period between summer and fall.

You don't need to drop a grand to get it: Any woman can style sophisticated and smart by wearing dark on the bottom and neutral on top. The key is to keep it natural: Hair and makeup should be simple and not too heavy or overdone. Keep your accessories small and light (if any at all), and keep your colour palate neutral. You'll have a look that spells classic for years to come.

Runway, Real Way: DKNY Double-Breasted Wool Pea Coat

Fashion - Runway, Real Way

Since 1989, Donna Karan has consistently made fashion attainable with her intelligent and real designs. Her DKNY Fall 2010 RTW collection was no exception, striking a cord with editors and real women alike. For the Fall 2010 ready-to-wear collection, Karan worked from a palate of black, camel, and grey and created a multitude of wearable wonders.

This DKNY ready-to-wear collection includes luxurious separates of leather and cashmere, wool overcoats, and a bevy of ankle socks and tights. I'm sold on the sophisticated sensibilities at the heart of these designs, especially this double-breasted wool pea coat. Camel brown (the designer colour is called Vicuna) boiled-wool, this DKNY pea coat features a large, almost Peter Pan-like collar, side-slit pockets, and beautiful brown buttons throughout the front.

You could style this DKNY pea coat runway ready and pair it a flowing blouse, leather shorts, ankle socks, and platforms; however, my suggestion is to translate the jacket to your real life and wear it as your everyday jacket. Though what you wear under this gem may vary each winter, one thing remains constant: This coat is a classic piece that will carry you through several seasons.
